The Cooks Charity has now given a grant to Only A Pavement Away (OAPA) for their Passport 2 Employment Programme and the Trustees’ Advisory Panel (TAP) intend to build on this relationship with OAPA as a vehicle for recruiting, training and employing chefs from the homelessness sector.
The Barnabas Project at Only a Pavement Away was created to continue support for House of St Barnabas (HoSB) graduates after the charity’s closure in January 2024. Without this project, graduates would have lost essential support, increasing their risk of homelessness.
Only A Pavement Away’s stated mission is ‘Stability through Employment,’ providing pathways for people facing homelessness into employment within the hospitality industry. OAPA achieves this through connecting forward thinking hospitality employers with charities supporting clients facing homelessness, and/or leaving prison, offering them career opportunities, training, and development.
